Job Summary

NHS Lothian is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Consultant Perinatal Psychologist to lead the development of psychological provision for the mental health of mothers and their babies.

The successful candidate will maintain a caseload for psychological intervention with patients with complex needs, manage Parent-Infant and Psychology staff, and provide supervision and training to staff across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement psychological therapies and parent-infant provision across the Lothian Perinatal Mental Health Service
  • Lead the management of Parent-Infant and Psychology staff, and provide supervision and training to staff
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide assessment and specialist treatment for women and birthing people experiencing mental health difficulties
  • Contribute to strategic developments at local, regional, and national levels

Requirements

  • Substantial experience of working with women and birthing people, parent-infant dyads, and vulnerable patients
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to delivering a service that is accessible and respectful to all
