Job Title: Operations Controller

As an Operations Controller at Great Bear, you will play a vital role in the success of our warehouse operations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth flow of work throughout the shift, liaising with warehouse operatives, Shift Supervisors, and Shift Managers to maintain a seamless operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the outbound schedule to ensure timely collection and delivery.
  • Issue instructions to designated staff to maintain a smooth flow of work.
  • Control paperwork for outbound vehicles to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Be the initial point of contact for all drivers arriving on site.
  • Communicate issues to Shift Manager in a timely manner to minimize disruption to the schedule.
  • Participate as an active member of the operations team, offering suggestions for solving problems, improving efficiency, customer, and quality focus.
  • Maintain good communication with transport providers to avoid late collections and delivery failures.
  • Produce a thorough, detailed handover to the following shift, highlighting potential issues, reminders, and the current state of play.

Requirements:

  • Ability to prioritize work based on scheduling and available resources.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player who is capable of working on their own initiative.
  • Able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of on-site systems.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Experience and good working knowledge of Autostore and RF kit.
  • PC literate in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Should demonstrate the drive and desire to progress.
  • Must be flexible in approach to work and shift patterns to cover for absence.
  • Be able to demonstrate a courteous and professional attitude towards customers and third-party hauliers.
  • Should have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to solve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal, conciliation skills, and the capacity to network with suppliers, hauliers, and customers.
