Strategic Planning and Development Control Service Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Planning Team Leader to join our 29-strong Strategic Planning and Development Control Service at East Cambridgeshire District Council.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and directing a team of Planning Officers, overseeing the delivery of high-quality development, and ensuring the timely throughput of the caseload of those officers.
The ideal candidate will have a recognised qualification in planning, appropriate to the level of the post, and/or equivalent experience. They will be proactive and confident, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality customer-focused planning outcomes.
The role will involve utilising performance management and project management techniques to ensure the effective determination of planning applications across the team, working proactively with agents and applicants to ensure issues are dealt with in a positive and proactive way, and managing and processing a limited caseload of the most major and more complex planning applications.
The successful candidate will be a positive team player who wants to deliver for the council and our communities, and will have a valid driving licence.
