Acute Medicine Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acute Medicine Consultant to join our team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Division of Integrated Medicine and Emergency Care, you will play a vital role in leading our Acute Medicine services and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the timely review of all medical patients attending our services, facilitating rapid triage, assessment, and discharge for ambulatory patients, and coordinating clinic appointments as required. You will also conduct daily ward rounds, identify morning discharges, and ensure patient safety during discharge.

As a Consultant Physician, you will provide high-quality care to patients, including clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff. You will also ensure adequate supervision of junior staff, undertake re-validation as per the General Medical Council, and participate in multi-source feedback and reflective practice.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about delivering excellent patient care and has a strong commitment to teaching and training. You will contribute to the teaching of medical trainees and students in the department and participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes.

Person Specification
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion within 6 months of interview date.
  • Participation in a management training course.
  • Involvement and evidence of implementation of service development and managing change in a healthcare setting.
  • Computer and IT skills.
