Job Title: Children's Home Senior Manager

Fledglings Child Care is seeking a highly experienced and passionate individual to fill the role of Children's Home Senior Manager. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires a strong leader to manage a 2-bedded home in Central Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Home's Resources: Ensure the home's resources are utilized effectively to provide a positive living experience for the resident children.
  • Undertake Registered Manager's Responsibilities: Implement the registered manager's responsibilities under the Care Standards Act 2000, the Children's Homes National Minimum Standards, and the Children's Home Regulations.
  • Supervise and Develop Staff: Supervise and offer constructive feedback to staff, and be involved in the assessment and supervision of staff.
  • Safeguard Children and Young People: Ensure children and young people are safeguarded as appropriate, and report/record safeguarding concerns by following guidance and regulation and company policy.
  • Review and Improve Plans: Regularly review all core plans, such as placement plans, risk assessments, etc., to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved for young people.
  • Develop Young People: Access the development needs of young people and monitor and improve the home's support plan and practices for each young person.
  • Ensure a Safe and Pleasant Environment: Ensure the home is safe and provides a pleasant quality environment for the children.
  • Develop Community Links: Create and develop links between the community and the home to enable children to participate fully in the local community's life.
  • Recruit, Train, and Develop Staff: Recruit, train, and develop staff to meet the objectives of the home in accordance with the statement of purpose, guidance, and policy and procedures.
  • Meet Young People's Needs: Ensure the assessed needs of young people in the home are met on a day-to-day basis.
  • Contribute to Placement Plans and Reviews: Contribute effectively to each child's placement plan review and child in care review.
  • Prepare Young People for Independence: Ensure there is a comprehensive plan for young people to prepare for independence.
  • Health and Safety: Be responsible for the health and safety of young people and staff.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) – or working towards.
  • Driving Licence: Current driving licence, required due to the nature of the job role.
  • DBS Disclosure: Successful applicants are required to undergo an enhanced DBS disclosure and provide satisfactory references.
  • DBS Disclosure Expense: DBS disclosure expense will be met by the employer.
Key Experience and Requirements:
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience working with young people in Residential Care.
  • Senior Role Experience: Experience as a Registered Manager or a Senior role in a Children's home.
  • Supervision and Management Experience: Candidates must have previous experience in a role requiring supervision and management of care staff.
  • Complex Behavioural Issues Experience: Experience of managing and working with young people with complex behavioural issues.
  • Leadership and Management Experience: Highly experienced, passionate individual who has a proven track record of providing the highest quality care for the young people as well as providing the staff with a high level of aspirational leadership and management.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Can demonstrate an extensive knowledge and understanding of all current regulations related to Residential Childcare and has the ability to effectively apply these to the day-to-day running of the home.
  • Leadership and Aspirations: Can demonstrate the ability to provide the young people, staff, and other stakeholders with clear leadership and high aspirations.
  • Safeguarding and Promotion: An individual who can demonstrate their passion to safeguard and promote the needs of young people with complex and challenging behaviour.
  • Auditing, Budgeting, and Monitoring Skills: Be able to demonstrate auditing, managing budgets, and monitoring skills.
  • Children's Homes Regulations Knowledge: Has a good working knowledge of Children's homes regulations.
