Job Title: Mental Health Teaching Assistant

Leader Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join our team at a large SEND school in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

About the Role:

We are looking for an individual who has experience working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties in Key Stage 3 & 4. The ideal candidate will have a patient and empathetic approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with complex needs on a 1:1 basis
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans to promote student progress
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, promoting their social, emotional, and mental well-being

Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour or additional needs
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with complex needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond effectively to the changing needs of students and the school
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people
