Job Title: KS1 Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate KS1 Teaching Assistant to join our team at a thriving primary school in Wakefield. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the class teacher in delivering high-quality education and contributing to the development and well-being of our young learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and effective lessons, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Provide individual and small group support to students to enhance their learning, using effective teaching strategies and a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum.
  • Help create a safe and orderly learning environment, managing classroom behavior and supporting students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Assist with the assessment of student progress and provide feedback to the class teacher, using data to inform teaching and learning.
  • Support students with SEN, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and providing additional support as needed.
  • Participate in school events, trips, and extracurricular activities, promoting a sense of community and teamwork.
  • Provide general administrative support to the class teacher and school, using basic IT skills to support learning and administrative tasks.
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in supporting teaching and learning in a primary school setting.
  • A strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and the wider school community.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with young children, with a commitment to their safeguarding and well-being.
  • Basic IT skills for supporting learning and administrative tasks.
