Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Category Merchandising Specialist to join our team at Currys. As a key member of our merchandising planning function, you will be responsible for ensuring all key category squad metrics are on track to budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Highlighting to the category squad where any key metrics such as sales, margin, stock health, or availability are at risk and what needs to be done to course correct and get back to plan.
- Working with the category squad to deliver category performance and achieve the annual sales, margin, stock, and availability budget set by the Head of Category and the Head of Category Merchandising.
- Collaborating with internal functions such as Distribution, Space Planning, Central Forecast, Central Planning, and the Category squad - Buying & Go To Market Teams, as well as external suppliers and logistics teams to ensure stock requirements are met to support the range, availability, sales, and margin plan.
- Monitoring commercial performance and ensuring retained profit is in line with expectations and budget, while managing up to 2 Assistant Merchandisers.
- Closely monitoring promotions and events performance against plan for all key KPIs.
- Driving supplier strategies and optimizing performance/supply and stock holding.
- Ensuring teams are ordering and building OEM containers in the most efficient way, challenging MOQs and not building excess stock.
Requirements
- Strong numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions/plans to drive sales, profit, and cash.
- Excellent commercial awareness and appreciation of customer needs.
- Good knowledge of MS Office, in particular Excel.
- Ability to use data and evaluations to recommend commercial decisions.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills to ensure the business has the right stock and availability.
