About the Role



We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Critical Care Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team at The Christie NHS FT. As a critical care specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading a team of nurses and healthcare assistants, and contributing to the development of clinical standards and policies.



Key Responsibilities





  • Assess and prioritize the needs of critically ill patients and their families, ensuring the provision of client-centered care that promotes health and well-being.

  • Develop and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams, providing up-to-date information and enabling patients to participate in their care planning.

  • Lead a team of nurses and healthcare assistants, providing guidance, support, and supervision to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.

  • Contribute to the development of clinical standards and policies, ensuring that practices are evidence-based and aligned with national guidelines.

  • Participate in clinical risk assessments and ensure the correct documentation of clinical incidents, in accordance with hospital policy.

  • Develop and implement educational programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of nursing staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.



Person Specification



We are looking for an experienced and motivated nurse with a strong background in critical care. The ideal candidate will have:





  • A professional nursing qualification (RGN Level 1 or 2) and a post-registration certificate in critical care.

  • Extensive experience in a critical care setting, with a proven track record of leadership and team management.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to contribute to the development of clinical standards and policies.
