Job Description

The Role

This role plays a crucial part in supporting the transformation of financially sustainable services that serve our residents, helping them live healthy and independent lives. You will be an advocate for continuous improvement within Financial Management.

You will report to the Assistant Director of Finance and support the Council's Corporate Finance responsibilities together with Service Directorates. The role is a key member of both the Finance and Service Directorate Leadership Teams, bringing influence on all material business decisions.

You will be responsible for leading and developing teams to provide consistently high-quality financial support and advice.

  • Reporting the Council's financial position, including revenue and capital, the medium-term financial strategy, annual budget, savings programme, treasury management function, collection fund, and completing the statutory statement of accounts accurately and within required timescales.
  • Co-ordinating all revenue and capital monitoring across the business partnering Directorates.
  • Developing and assimilating Directorate and Business performance data within financial reporting.
  • Leading the business partnering function for all corporate-related financial activity.
  • Evaluating invest-to-save/service transformation proposals to deliver cost efficiencies and evaluate future year service delivery models.
  • Providing influential input to decision-making processes, including objective challenge on strategy and policy development, efficiency, and encouraging a culture of continual improvement.
  • Reviewing, developing, and implementing financial systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Advising and supporting directorate colleagues and key partners to deliver and transform business priorities with professional and influential challenge where appropriate.
About Us

We offer a competitive salary range £45,000 - £60,000 per annum depending on experience, plus excellent benefits.
