We are seeking an experienced and passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team at Empowering Learning. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual who is committed to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a specialist school setting.

About the Role:

  1. SUPPORTING CHILDREN DURING LESSONS AND SCHOOL ACTIVITIES WITH A HIGH LEVEL OF CARE AND RESILIENCE, WORKING CLOSELY WITH TEACHERS TO ENSURE EFFECTIVE LEARNING OUTCOMES.
  2. MANAGING PUPILS' PERSONALISED LEARNING BASED ON THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS, HELPING THEM TO OVERCOME BARRIERS TO LEARNING.
  3. DELIVERING 1:1 OR SMALL GROUP ACTIVITIES THAT SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL SKILLS, BEHAVIOURAL MANAGEMENT, AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE.
  4. PROVIDING PHYSICAL MANAGEMENT AND CARE OF PUPILS, INCLUDING ASSISTING WITH DAILY CARE REQUIREMENTS AND PROVIDING SUPPORT DURING LUNCH AND BREAK TIMES.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience working with children with SEND in a school setting.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly and providing excellent support to teachers and pupils.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of SEND policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection.
  • High levels of care and resilience when working with children with complex needs.
  • Able to supply teaching references and undergo Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
