The British Academy of Jewellery is seeking an experienced Financial Director to oversee the financial functions across our group of companies: the British Academy of Jewellery (BAJ), Free2Learn, The Koppel Project, and Hub Education.

Job Summary

We are looking for a strategic Financial Director who can develop and implement financial strategies, lead budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. You will work closely with senior leadership to achieve long-term financial health and alignment with business objectives.

About the Role

This is a critical role that requires strong financial expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner. You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing financial strategies to ensure long-term financial health and alignment with business objectives.
  • Leading budgeting and forecasting processes for all entities, working closely with senior leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial projections.
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions, maintaining compliance with accounting regulations and legal requirements.
  • Overseeing the work of external accountants and ensuring adherence to statutory requirements, tax filings, and audits.
  • Managing payroll processes for all companies, ensuring timely payments and compliance with employment regulations.
  • Collaborating with HR and external payroll providers to manage employee compensation.
  • Establishing and maintaining robust financial controls and procedures to mitigate risks and safeguard company assets.
  • Serving as a financial advisor to the CEO and senior leadership, providing guidance on financial implications of business decisions.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience as a Head of Finance or in a similar senior financial leadership role, preferably in a group of companies or multiple-entity organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting in diverse business environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proven track record of identifying financial challenges and providing innovative solutions.
  • Experience in education, arts, or creative industries.
  • Familiarity with the financial regulations applicable to charitable organisations or non-profits.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits.
