Art Teacher Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Art Teacher to join our team at Worldwide Education. As an Art Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality art education to students in various schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, deliver, and oversee the delivery of art and design lessons to students.
  2. Be responsible for the materials budget and ensure that all necessary materials are available for lessons.
  3. Deliver learning programs in line with individual student needs and across art and design subject areas.
  4. Plan, prepare, and deliver innovative lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching resources in line with the school's ethos and development plan.
  5. Oversight and supervision of the art and design trainee teacher teaching.
  6. Accurately assess student work, give appropriate feedback, and maintain records of students' progress and development.
  7. Be an active member of the school's IV process.
  8. Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and devise and write new curriculum materials.
  9. Be familiar with a range of different learning resources and specialist art equipment.
  10. Raise achievement and student attainment to the highest academic and creative levels, particularly in portfolio development.
  11. Create a safe, healthy classroom environment.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Manage student attendance, behavior in the classroom and on school premises, and apply appropriate and effective measures in cases of missed attendance and misbehavior in line with school policies.
  2. Safeguard the wellbeing of students in line with school policy.
  3. Work closely with the school's pastoral team and academic study team in order to guide, induct, and manage individual learning needs.
  4. Undergo regular lesson observations and participate in regular in-service training (INSET) as part of continuing professional development (CPD).
  5. Maintain professional standards at all times.
  6. Work towards and contribute to the aims and objectives of the school's and department's development plan.
  7. Carry out all duties with an awareness and understanding of the Safeguarding requirements within the area of responsibility. Work complies with all safeguarding policies and procedures that apply to the role. Behaviours and actions support the safeguarding of children, young people, or adults with care and support needs as appropriate.
