Job Summary
Northern Marine is seeking a highly skilled Marine Crewing Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our crewing department, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of crew operations, ensuring seamless communication and compliance with maritime regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate crew changes, ensuring effective communication with seafarers and the team.
- Support and participate in regular internal and client audits, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations.
- Liaise with the Marine Personnel Specialist to ensure effective crew management and coordination.
- Manage and coordinate all office visits of seafarers, including de-briefs and appraisals.
- Coordinate crew induction and offboarding processes, ensuring a smooth transition for new joiners and leavers.
- Support the Marine Personnel Specialist and Personnel team with disciplinary matters, review of external manning agents, and management of KPIs/SLAs.
- Manage and coordinate payroll matters for seafarers, ensuring prompt and accurate payment.
- Monitor and analyze training plans, ensuring all crews are competent and up to date with the latest regulations and best practices.
- Support the delivery and communication of STCW training to seafarers.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of ISM, STCW, and MLC requirements.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Broad experience in a marine crewing role, supporting and managing a large pool of global seafarers.
- Demonstrable experience managing first-line crewing demands, including problem resolution.
- Demonstratable customer service skills, with a focus on client engagement and delivery.
- Experience with case management, involving seafarers, and coordinating investigation, grievance, and disciplinary processes and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of maritime regulations and industry best practice.
- Understanding and knowledge of offshore crewing practice, including demonstrated experience managing casework on board.
- Understanding and in-depth knowledge of ISM code, MLC, and STCW.
- Awareness and knowledge of crew managing systems, including COMPAS.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of GDPR and ISO standards relating to crew management.
- Proficient in all MS office packages, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desirable
- University Degree, preferably in HR or General Business.
- Previous experience working within a seagoing HR team for a ship management company.
- Shipping HR-related legislation; STCW, MLC.
