Job Title: Fuel Pricing Analyst

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Fuel Pricing Analyst to join our team at Motor Fuel Group. As a key member of our Commercial team, you will be responsible for reviewing, approving, and communicating daily retail fuel prices to our Retail Operations team and MFG sites.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage workload to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate completion of retail pricing functions.
  • Communicate effectively with Retail Services and Operations teams to ensure seamless execution of pricing strategies.
  • Liaise with suppliers, such as PDI, Experian Catalist, and fuel suppliers, to ensure accurate pricing data.
  • Develop and maintain fuel pricing, costs, volume, margin, and associated reports to inform business decisions.
  • Assist in the review and implementation of MFG's network pricing strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide management reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, including current margin, price position, and replacement margin reporting.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of physical properties of motor fuel types and fuel cost price methodologies.
  • Understanding of MFG's Contract Manager-based mode of operation and ability to work with advanced Excel skills.
  • Effective communication, influencing, and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and work to deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a team, develop systems and processes, and use initiative to identify and apply solutions.

Work Context:

The post is based at MFG's Head office in St. Albans, with occasional business travel required. Additional hours may be required to ensure business needs are met, with a rota system in place to cover out-of-hours and weekend business needs.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of Price Elasticity modelling, Game Theory, and other Retail Pricing tools/methodologies is an advantage.
  • Ability to work accurately within strict time deadlines and maintain attention to detail.
