Job Title: Fuel Pricing Analyst

As a key member of the Motor Fuel Group team, the Fuel Pricing Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring the company's retail fuel prices are optimized to maximize gross profit.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Review and approve daily retail fuel prices to ensure they align with MFG's pricing strategies.
  • Produce and maintain fuel pricing, costs, volume, margin, and associated reports to inform business decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Retail Operations team and MFG sites to ensure timely distribution and confirmation of approved price changes.
  • Monitor and update MFG Site details, including new sites, site disposals, brand and contracted cost of product changes, and site/retailer details.
  • Identify and add new competitors to the MFG Pricing system using Catalist site data and update the system with monthly changes in site ownership and brands.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of the physical properties of all motor fuel types.
  • Understanding of MFG's Contract Manager based mode of operation.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills; verbal, electronic, and written.
  • Computer literate with advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a team and develop systems and processes.
Work Context:

The post is based at MFG's Head office in St. Albans, with some business travel required from time to time. Additional hours may be required to be worked outside of contracted working hours to ensure the needs of the business are met.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • A working knowledge of Fuels cost price methodologies (Platts/Argus) etc.
  • Knowledge of Price Elasticity modelling, Game Theory, and other Retail Pricing tools/methodologies is an advantage.
  • Attentive to detail and able to work accurately within strict time deadlines.
