Our esteemed trust is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Endoscopist to join our esteemed Digestive Diseases Centre (DDC) within the Surgery, Anaesthesia & Critical Care Clinical Care Group.

The DDC aims to establish a Centre of Excellence in North East London, built upon the amalgamation of Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, Upper GI & Colorectal Surgery.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide flexible cover for the endoscopy service in Queen's Hospital and King George Hospital, working with clinical teams in Gastroenterology, Colorectal, and Upper GI Surgery.

The Endoscopy Service is hosted within the Division of Surgery, delivered by clinicians in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Upper & Lower GI Surgeons, and 3 Clinical Endoscopists.

BHRUT, one of the busiest NHS trusts in Greater London, performs over 18,000 GI endoscopy procedures per year in JAG accredited units and aims to attract tertiary referrals for complex polyps with complex EMR, ESD, and hybrid procedures.

This is an opportunity to join a busy, dynamic multidisciplinary team to help improve the service provided to our population, developing JAG training courses at our Trust which the successful applicant can contribute to.

Our diverse team of 8,000 staff, from 146 different countries, live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve, with the majority from black, Asian, and minority ethnic groups.

We operate from two main sites - King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford, with two of the busiest emergency departments in London, with over 300,000 visitors to our A&Es in 2023.

  • MRCP or equivalent
  • CCT in Gastroenterology/ attainment of CCT via 'European Community Rights'
  • Full registration with GMC
  • MSC
  • Higher research degree - MD Res / MD
  • Experience of managing postgraduate training
