About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applied Scientist to join our team at Amazon Development Centre (London) Limited. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and testing machine learning and data science initiatives for contextual data processing and classification.

As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will work closely with our software engineering teams to integrate successful experiments into large-scale, highly complex Amazon production systems. You will also promote the culture of experimentation and applied science at Amazon, and demonstrate your ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.

About the Team

The Supply Quality organization has the charter to solve optimization problems for ad-programs in Amazon and ensure high-quality ad-impressions. We develop advanced algorithms and infrastructure systems to optimize performance for our advertisers and publishers.

We are focused on solving a wide variety of problems in computational advertising, including contextual data processing and classification, traffic quality prediction, security forensics and research, viewability prediction, and brand safety and experimentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, prototype, and test machine learning and data science initiatives for contextual data processing and classification.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate successful experiments into large-scale, highly complex Amazon production systems.
  • Promote the culture of experimentation and applied science at Amazon.
  • Demonstrate your ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills working with multiple peer groups and different levels of management.
Requirements
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related language.
  • Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.
  • Experience in building machine learning models for business applications.
  • Experience in applied research.
  • PhD or Master's degree plus experience in CS, CE, ML, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikitlearn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy, etc.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark, etc.
  • Experience with Artificial General Intelligence, generative deep learning models, and specifically LLM development.
