About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applied Scientist to join our team at Amazon Development Centre (Scotland) Limited. As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and testing machine learning models to drive business growth and innovation in advertising.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop machine learning models to solve complex business problems in advertising
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate machine learning models into large-scale production systems
  • Promote a culture of experimentation and applied science within the organization
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of large ad tech solutions and their interactions with other teams
  • Anticipate and mitigate obstacles, prioritizing work and influencing the development of advertising products
Requirements
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related languages
  • Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
  • Experience building machine learning models for business applications
  • Experience in applied research
  • Master's degree or PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics, or equivalent quantitative field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy, etc.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark, etc.
  • Experience using managed ML/AI solutions
  • Experience conducting research in a corporate setting
