Information Governance Officer Role

We are partnering with Bolton Council to find a skilled Information Governance Officer to support their team on an interim basis.

Key Details:

  • Initial 3-month contract
  • Umbrella pay rate: £20.75 per hour
  • Hybrid working arrangement: minimum 2 days per week in town hall office
  • Working hours: 9:00-17:00, Monday to Friday

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in information governance, with excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously. They will be responsible for managing a full caseload, providing expert advice on information governance issues, and conducting internal reviews.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requests
  • Handling subject access requests in compliance with data protection laws
  • Conducting internal reviews related to information governance
  • Advising on information sharing agreements and their implications
  • Assessing and advising on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for various services
  • Providing expert advice to council officers on information governance issues
  • Managing cases involving breaches of data protection within the council
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Ability to respond effectively to FOIA, EIR, and subject access requests
  • Experience conducting internal reviews and advising on information sharing agreements
  • Knowledgeable in assessing and advising on DPIAs
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong team player with a sensible approach to workload management
  • Ability to work autonomously and hit the ground running with a full caseload
