Job Opportunity: Senior System Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior System Administrator to join our Technical Operations team at The University of Edinburgh.

About the Role:

  • Provide expert administration of key systems, including Gitlab, Puppet, Prometheus/Alertmanager, Elasticsearch, Sentry, Grafana, Log shipping, Kubernetes, Postgres, VPN, and New Relic.
  • Support and maintain EDINA's IT infrastructure to ensure day-to-day smooth running with minimal downtime of income-generating services.
  • Develop and maintain measurement, quality control, and management processes to maintain service levels consistently.
  • Maintain staff device inventory, ensuring alignment with information security requirements.

About You:

  • You will have considerable experience managing key systems used by EDINA to deliver service resilience.
  • You will have good people skills, able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You will be strongly technical, ideally with experience of cloud service delivery.
  • You will have knowledge of best practice cluster management.

  • A competitive salary of £49,250 - £60,321 per annum.
