Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Neonatal Consultant to join our team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a key member of our neonatal service, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the development of our service.

Main Duties

  • Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.
  • Participation in neonatal outpatient clinics and developmental follow-up.
  • Provision of resident consultant on-call services to the Leicester Royal Infirmary Neonatal Unit, supported by a full team of junior doctors and nurse practitioners.
  • Provision of educational support and training to our medical, nursing, and nurse practitioner colleagues.
  • Input into neonatal service governance processes, including audit, management of complaints, and production of guidelines.
  • Leadership of MDT discussions and case reviews, including input into mortality and morbidity meetings.
  • Special interest that complements the existing team would be helpful.
  • Provision of neonatal input to our colleagues in fetal medicine.
  • Sharing of responsibility for the day-to-day management of patients.
  • Promotion of new ways of working and coordinating care for patients in the community, ensuring services are based on effective and integrated partnerships across the health community.
  • Participation in multidisciplinary case conferences.
  • Supervision and training of junior medical staff.
  • Participation in appraising and assessing juniors.
  • Teaching, research, and administration.
  • Proactive development of the service.
  • Active participation in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
