About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance and Benefits Advisor to join our team at The Growth Company. As a key member of our Employment team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-performance levels, compliant activity, and customer service standards on our CRS Finance, Benefit, and Debt (FBD) service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Case Management: Work with a caseload of participants in both community and prison settings to progress them on their journey towards accessing benefits, including adhering to the responsibilities for making claims.
  • Debt Resolution: Resolve debt issues, including the establishment of debt and rent repayment plans.
  • Liaison and Support: Support and act as liaison between appropriate parties, such as landlords, utility suppliers, phone contractors, and other creditors, banks, and credit unions.
  • Relationship Building: Build strong and positive relationships with participants, enabling them to make well-informed choices and to appropriately assess sources of support, leading to the joint development of an action plan of supportive interventions.
  • Progress Monitoring: Be responsible for following up on service user actions to ensure that timely progress is made with these, e.g., making repayments or responding to correspondence.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with National Probation Service officers, and complete all associated recording of these interactions, tracking, and management information details, as directed, accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Service Promotion: Promote the additional choices available to service users, for example, third sector support (food banks, credit unions, etc).
  • Individualized Engagement: Demonstrate individualized engagement and motivational skills appropriate for each participant.
  • Data Management: Ensure that all required data entry to the relevant digital applications is accurate and compliant, and that documentation relating to the participant is completed and maintained in an accurate, compliant, timely, and respectful manner.
About You
  • Experience: Ideally, have experience working in training, advice, and guidance, and counseling environments.
  • Working with Vulnerable Groups: Working with current offenders or marginalized groups.
  • Target-Oriented: Working to targets.
  • Local Labour Market Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of the local labour market, methods of recruitment, and awareness of growth industries.
  • Welfare-to-Work Knowledge: Good knowledge of welfare-to-work and its customer base.
  • Guidance and Standards: Knowledge of guidance and national standards.
  • Rapport-Building Skills: Good rapport-building skills.
  • Professionalism: Professional and articulate.
  • Flexibility: Flexible and adaptable.
Requirements
  • Case Loading Experience: Must have previous experience case loading or working with ex-offenders or the marginalized and demotivated.
  • Debt and Welfare Knowledge: Sound grasp of the issues of debt and the issues that may cause individuals to mis-manage their personal finances or to breach their conditions for claiming DWP/Jobcentre Plus benefits.
  • High-Pressure Environment: The ability to work under pressure in a high-performance environment.
  • Personable Approach: Strong personable approach when working with service users.
  • Flexibility and Travel: Flexible approach to work, including a willingness to travel.
  • Unsociable Hours: Willingness to work occasional unsociable hours.
  • Prison-Based Work: Delivering services to service users who are still in custody, inclusive of attending prisons to work face-to-face.
