About the Role

Job Summary

The EKC Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head of Engineering Department to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading and managing the development of our engineering curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of our students and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of our engineering curriculum, ensuring it is relevant, engaging, and meets the needs of our students and industry partners.
  • Work closely with the Head of Engineering to support the growth and development of the department.
  • Teach and assess students' coursework, ensuring they receive high-quality education and training.
  • Oversee the delivery of Mechanical & Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualifications and HNC in Construction in partnership with the University of Kent.
  • Plan and implement a highly relevant and distinctive curriculum to meet local and regional skills requirements.
  • Implement the launch of new T levels in Engineering.
  • Lead, communicate, and coordinate your team to ensure all students receive up-to-date and correct information.
  • Work towards becoming a centre of excellence for green engineering within the region.

About the Department

The EKC Group's engineering department is a state-of-the-art facility with a £10 million investment in new engineering machinery, including robotic Kuka arms, XYZ CNC mills and lathes, 3D printers, and computer-based labs with CAD software.

About You

We are looking for a qualified teacher with a focus in vocational education and industry experience in machining workshops, engineering, or construction. Ideally, you will have a background in academic leadership, guidance, and managing a curriculum.

You will need to have experience in assessing and tracking student progress, planning intervention, and ensuring all students develop the skills they need to succeed.

We are looking for someone with character, able to lead a team, be organised, creative, and innovative. As an educator, you will be a strong communicator with good interpersonal skills.
