About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and multilingual individual to join our team as a casual bilingual education assistant. As a key member of our Ethnic Minority Achievement Service, you will play a vital role in supporting newly arrived children to settle into school and begin to learn English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting children in nurseries, primary schools, and secondary schools across Coventry and the surrounding area.
  • Providing language support to help children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Working with teachers and other education professionals to develop effective strategies for supporting children with diverse language needs.
  • Attending ad hoc meetings and contributing to the development of our language support services.

Requirements

  • Fluency and literacy in one or more of the languages listed below: Bengali, Czech, Igbo, Nepali, Pashto, Slovak, Sorani Kurdish.
  • A good command of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work in a variety of educational settings and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Flexibility to work a minimum of 4 mornings or 4 afternoons a week, or a mixture of both during normal school opening times.
