Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Animator to join our team. As a key member of our animation department, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of animators, driving the development of high-quality animation assets, and collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of animators to achieve exceptional results and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Develop and implement animation pipelines and workflows to ensure efficient and effective production.
  • Collaborate with art leadership to maintain high-quality standards across animation and related departments.
  • Work closely with production to scope and implement animation work for the department.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to animators to help them grow and develop their skills.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in animation and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement within the team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience in animation, with a strong background in character animation.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Maya, MotionBuilder, or other industry-standard animation packages.
  • Experience scoping and planning a successful animation pipeline.
  • Proven experience mentoring and growing an animation team.
  • Proven experience working with motion capture, keyframe animation, and procedural animation techniques.
  • Understanding of facial animation and experience with state machines.
  • Passion for video games and an understanding of current trends in relation to animation.
  • Great communication skills and a positive, approachable attitude.

Desirable

  • Previous experience leading an animation department.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with open-world games.
  • Passion for video game animation.
