Job Opportunity: Interim Public Health Principal

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interim Public Health Principal to lead the delivery of our public health workplan for babies, children, and young people (BCYP). This is a challenging and dynamic role that requires a strong understanding of public health principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Public Health Strategies: Develop an action plan for the Council's BCYP strategy and monitor the impact of implementation.
  • Lead Infant Feeding Initiatives: Lead on the development and implementation of an infant feeding strategy, working across the system to increase breast feeding rates, including pre-birth and introduction to solids.
  • Healthy Start and Oral Health: Lead on healthy start, oral health, and healthy weight for babies, children, and young people, including providing public health input to local clinical pathway redesign.
  • Primary Care Partnerships: Develop and manage relationships with primary care to improve partnership working and coordination on the health of babies, children, and young people.

Requirements:

  • Public Health Experience: Must have previously worked at Public Health Principal level or similar covering children and young people.
  • Communication and Relationship Building: Excellent communicator and relationship builder with partners and providers.
  • Desirable Skills: Infant feeding experience would be desirable but not essential. A Master's or degree in Public Health would be beneficial but is not essential.
