About the Role

Bournemouth University is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for its students. As a Student Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the wellbeing and success of our students.

Reporting to the Manager, you will be the first point of contact for students with wellbeing issues and concerns. You will work closely with faculties and Student Services to identify and address areas of student concern, including non-engagement and general wellbeing issues that impact upon students' ability to successfully complete their programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first-line response to student wellbeing issues and concerns
  • Work with faculties and Student Services to identify and address areas of student concern
  • Develop and implement strategies to support student wellbeing and success
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including empathy and understanding of professional boundaries
  • Good understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication, literacy, and IT skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
