Job Title: Data Centre Transformation Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Transformation Specialist to lead and manage the transformation of our organisation's infrastructure, specialising in migrating to Cloud technology.

The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of Data Centre operation across the whole spectrum, including resiliency, contract and charges negotiation, SLA management, design review, testing and integration with existing systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive data centre transformation strategies, including modernization, consolidation, virtualization, and cloud migration.
  • Work with enterprise and data architects to assess current data centre and IT environments and create detailed transformation roadmaps that align with business goals and technology standards.
  • Design scalable, secure, and efficient data centre solutions that support current and future business needs. Collaborate with architects to develop high-level and detailed designs for data centre transformations.
  • Engage with vendors and service providers to evaluate and select appropriate technologies and services, including contract and commercial reviews.
  • Closely manage incumbent vendor relationships and oversee the contract negotiation and separation of existing services from a security, resilience, and commercial viewpoint.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges related to data centre transformations and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Implement best practices to optimise the performance, efficiency, and reliability of data centre infrastructure. Put in place metrics to monitor and evidence operational efficiency and risk.
  • Communicate transformation plans, progress, and outcomes to key stakeholders, including executive leadership, technical teams, and business units. Provide regular status updates and reports.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including project plans, design specifications, operational procedures, and support documentation.
  • Perform gate reviews and quality assurance reviews with programme manager.
Requirements:
  • Experience leading migration teams and/or being a sole operator across multiple data centre migrations.
  • Motivated by problem-solving and embracing responsibility for completing tasks.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a passion for communicating a clear message to diverse stakeholders with different viewpoints.
  • Experience working with delivery partners in-house and externally to achieve objectives in defined timeframes.
  • Ability to multitask – running multiple inputs at any one time.
  • Ability to analyse, mark up, and justify contracts, service terminations, and associated clauses to maintain security, resilience, and business value.
  • Experience within the financial services industry is preferable.
  • Demonstrable experience in the implementation of IT projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment.
