Job Title: Advanced Biomedical Scientist

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Biomedical Scientist to join our team as a Quality Lead and Immunohistochemistry Specialist in our Histopathology department.

About the Role

This is a highly specialized role that requires advanced knowledge and technical expertise in immunohistochemistry, quality management, and staff development. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the performance of a functional area of the laboratory, including quality control and assurance, training of Biomedical Scientists, and direct technical supervision of unqualified staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the quality management system (QMS) and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement quality control and assurance procedures.
  • Train and supervise Biomedical Scientists and other laboratory staff.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and verification of laboratory results.
  • Lead auditor training and change management.
Requirements
  • HCPC registration with at least 5 years post-registration experience in a UKAS accredited clinical histopathology laboratory.
  • MSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent, or completion of IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma within 3 months.
  • Experience with QMS, immunohistochemistry, and staff development.
  • Lead auditor training and change management experience.
