Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications and Engagement Manager to join our Internal and Engagement communications team for a period of up to 12 months.

The team is led by the Internal Comms and Engagement Lead and works closely with senior executives and other managers to provide expert advice on internal communications projects and campaigns.

The successful candidate will play a key role in team working, providing guidance and support to departments on their internal communications projects and campaigns, and contributing to the development of internal communications channels and strategies.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  1. Provide expert internal communications advice and support to different teams across the Met Office, ensuring their communications align with the internal communications principles and are planned on the forward look.
  2. Work closely with Directorate change partners to support the delivery of key pieces of organisational change projects and initiatives.
  3. Be an active part of the internal communications team, supporting the daily operational running and duties of the team, including responding to enquiries, monitoring of channels, providing ad hoc advice.
  4. Support a variety of internal communications channels, including MetNet intranet, viva engage, all staff briefings, and town halls.
  5. Develop relationships and act as a trusted advisor with senior leaders and managers on internal communications.

Essential Experience Required:

  1. Experience of working in internal communications or change communications is essential.
  2. Demonstrable experience of working with internal clients and departments to develop campaigns or deliver initiatives is essential.
  3. Demonstrable experience of communications project or campaign management and delivery, meeting challenging targets is essential.
  4. Experience to write creatively and convincingly and experience of latest communications techniques is essential.

Essential Qualification Required:

General education qualification is essential.

Additional information to note:

This role is hybrid, with a minimum of one day per week working from the Exeter HQ office. Part-time and flexible working options are available.
