About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications and Engagement Lead to join our team for a period of up to 12 months. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our Internal Comms and Engagement Lead and play a key role in delivering internal communications projects and campaigns.

Working Arrangements:

This is a part-time position, requiring a minimum of one day per week at our Exeter HQ office, usually a Wednesday. Additional ad-hoc days may be required.

The successful candidate will work a total of 37 hours per week, with part-time or flexible working arrangements considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and support to various teams across the Met Office, ensuring their communications align with internal communications principles and are well-planned.
  • Work collaboratively with Directorate change partners to deliver key organisational change projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the daily operational running and duties of the internal communications team, including responding to enquiries, monitoring channels, and providing ad-hoc advice.
  • Support a range of internal communications channels, including the MetNet intranet, viva engage, all-staff briefings, and town halls.
  • BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH SENIOR LEADERS AND MANAGERS TO PROVIDE TRUSTED ADVICE ON INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS.
Essential Criteria, Skills, and Experience
  • Significant experience in internal communications or change communications.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with internal clients and departments to develop campaigns or deliver initiatives.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering communications projects or campaigns, meeting challenging targets.
  • Ability to convince others of a course of action, even when it's not the obvious choice.
  • Strong teamwork skills and flexibility, with the ability to prioritise and juggle multiple projects without losing focus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience of using the latest communications techniques.
