At Marie Curie UK, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Nurse to join our Community-based team in Dorset. As a Senior Nurse, you will play a crucial role in managing a team of Registered Nurses, Nurse Associates, and Healthcare Assistants, while supporting the Clinical Nurse Manager.

This is a Dorset Community-based role across Christchurch, Bournemouth, and Poole, which will see you working from home and out in the community. You will be responsible for delivering hands-on care on a regular basis as part of the clinical team, and with support from the Clinical Nurse Manager, you will undertake My Plan and Review/CDPF for nurses within the immediate team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering hands-on care on a regular basis as part of the clinical team
  • Undertaking My Plan and Review/CDPF for nurses within the immediate team
  • Facilitating the development of nursing practice through specific projects in line with the place-based objectives
  • Acting as a managerial and clinical resource for services within their remit
  • Coordinating patient activity and encouraging a wide team approach to the provision of patient care
  • Regularly overseeing care to ensure staff are providing the highest standard of care and that any training or development needs are assessed and supported
  • Actively participating in own clinical supervision and promoting the clinical supervision of junior staff
  • Delivering and participating in formal and informal teaching to reflect the needs of the service
  • Regularly participating in observations of clinical practice to monitor standards of practice and create bespoke developmental plans for staff within their team
  • Supporting the CNM with investigations into incidents and complaints
  • Ensuring that the voice of the user is heard and supporting with facilitating high-quality patient and carer feedback
  • Regularly coordinating the service, including allocation of staff, responding to queries, and liaising with the coordination hub regarding referrals and allocations

Key skills and experience required include:

  • Registered Healthcare Professional on NMC register
  • Experience caring for patients with palliative care needs
  • Collectively reflecting on and assessing the impact of person-centred ways of working within the multidisciplinary team
  • Understanding the benefits of working with a patient-centred philosophy of multidisciplinary team working
  • Incorporating knowledge of life-limiting conditions and best practice evidence into care planning and decision-making
  • Experience of formal and informal teaching
