Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Information Governance Manager to join our team at Health Data Research UK. As a key member of our Legal, Trust and Ethics team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, secure, compliant, and trustworthy use of health data for research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement innovative data governance processes and policies to ensure the secure and compliant use of health data for research.
  • Work closely with partner organisations, including the NHS, universities, research bodies, charities, funders, industry representatives, data processors, and TRE Host Organisations, to develop strong working relationships and drive initiatives to simplify and streamline data governance processes.
  • Project manage funding calls to accelerate the adoption of tools and resources across partner organisations.
  • Implement legal agreements for the provision of and access to data for research and advise on compliance with applicable data protection requirements.
  • Advise on compliance with ethical and governance approval processes for data access.
  • Provide advice on international data transfers of data, seeking expert legal input where necessary.
  • Work closely with our Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) team to involve and engage members of the public, including our Patient Advisory Board (PAB), in the use of health data for research and data governance.
  • Provide training to Health Data Research UK staff and members of the broader research community on information and research governance.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in information governance, ideally within research.
  • A track record of implementing successful information governance processes.
  • Understanding of data protection and privacy laws, particularly UK GDPR.
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
