Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist Psychiatrist

The successful candidate will provide high-quality specialist clinical assessments, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigations, to children, young people, and their families in various settings. They will work collaboratively with other team members to plan and deliver individually tailored treatment plans.
The Specialist Doctor will be part of a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team, including nurses, clinical psychologists, OTs, systemic family therapists, and child psychotherapists. They will also be part of a Trust-wide consultant network, allowing opportunities to liaise with colleagues in other posts and develop peer networks.

About the RoleThis post attracts a Golden Hello payment of up to £5,000 and a Relocation Package of up to £8,000. The Specialist Doctor will be based in the Brighton CAMHS team and have Named Doctor for Safeguarding responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- To ensure junior medical staff operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant.
- To participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and, as appropriate, for the whole mental health service.
- To engage in medical appraisal and revalidation as set out in the Trust policy on this area.
- To attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trust, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.
- To maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval (if appropriate), and to abide by professional codes of conduct.
- To participate annually in a job plan review with the clinical manager, which will include consultation with a relevant manager to ensure the post is developed to take into account changes in service configuration and delivery associated with modernisation.
- To work with local managers and professional colleagues to ensure the efficient running of services and share with medical colleagues in the medical contribution to management.
- To comply with the Trust's agreed policies, procedures, standing orders, and financial instructions, and to take an active role in the financial management of the service and support the Chief Medical Officer and other managers in preparing plans for services.
- To recognise and take responsibility for safeguarding children, young people, and adults, using appropriate systems for identifying, sharing information, recording, and raising concerns, obtaining advice, and taking action.
- To apply appropriate equality and diversity legislation, including disability discrimination requirements, in the context of patient care and maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding Equality and Diversity.
- To understand and utilise the relevant legal framework, such as being Section 12(2) MHA 1983 approved, if not having Approved Clinician (AC) status/approval and being on the AC register.
