Opportunity Overview

We're seeking a highly skilled Materials Scientist to contribute to the development and improvement of our cutting-edge Quantum Computing systems. As a key member of our Material Science and Device Engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to conduct research, present findings, and see the practical applications of your work have a real impact on our unique, enterprise-ready quantum computers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate superconducting devices through materials characterization and metrology methods.
  • Improve limiting factors to qubit coherence and fabrication precision.
  • Develop new methods to understand the limiting parameters of superconducting films/devices.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, project plans, and reports.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in material science and technology.
  • Represent OQC in scientific settings such as conferences and collaborative consortia.

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Specialized experience with material characterization techniques such as XPS, SIMS, Auger, EELS, Raman spectroscopy, ellipsometry, RBS, SEM, FIB, TEM, EDX, XRD, AFM, etc.
  • Significant experience with programmatic data analysis in Python or similar.
  • Knowledge and understanding of nanofabrication processing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and reasoning skills.
  • Great problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Team player with the capability to learn independently about new subject areas and underlying technologies.
