Protocol Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work in an Outstanding Specialist School in Chelmsford.

This provision is for pupils with moderate learning difficulties. Students have a range of different needs, which may include difficulties with communication, social or physical skills and, because of this, they often need a little extra help to manage everyday activities.

Prior experience of working in education isn't necessary - our most important requirement is for someone with an open-minded, 'can-do' attitude, who is willing to learn in the role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to students with learning difficulties or disabilities in a specialist school setting
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and individual education plans
  • Help students with personal care and mobility needs, as required
  • Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and well-being
  • Collaborate with other professionals, parents, and caregivers to support student development
Requirements:
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Experience working with individuals with learning difficulties or disabilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Understanding of different learning styles and strategies
  • Ability to adapt learning materials to meet individual student needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and policies

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with the option to make it permanent at a later date.
