Primary SEN Teaching Assistant Chelmsford

An inclusive primary school in Chelmsford is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide essential support to young students with additional learning needs.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in helping students overcome learning barriers and gain confidence both academically and socially. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced SEN staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans for each student, providing one-on-one and small group support as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with SEN staff to create a positive learning atmosphere that fosters engagement, growth, and confidence-building for students with a range of learning needs.
  • Work with teachers to adapt lessons and classroom materials to ensure accessibility and meaningful participation for every student.
  • Provide consistent encouragement and assistance to help students reach developmental and academic milestones.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills in SEN support and contribute effectively to the school's inclusive ethos.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children in an educational or SEN setting is essential, with a preference for candidates who have supported children with additional needs.
  • Patient and empathetic approach to working with young learners, with the ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to collaborate closely with the SEN team to adapt approaches for each child's unique needs.
  • Enhanced DBS check required to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
