About the Role

We offer a competitive salary of £45,000 - £50,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, in addition to benefits such as 10% discount at our bars and theatre shop and Employee Assistance Programme - Health Assured (Wisdom).

Job Description

As our Technical Department Head, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our technical staff, ensuring that all events, performances, and setups are appropriately staffed within budget and working time regulations. You will work closely with the Creative team, Head of Operations, and Customer Service department to ensure seamless execution of events, corporate bookings, creative learning activities, and performances.

You will also be responsible for maintaining the technical and auditorium facilities to the highest standards, including regular inspections and maintenance of equipment. Additionally, you will oversee the management of external contracts and contractor visits for technical and building maintenance, services, and inspections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the technical staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels for events, performances, and setups
  • Maintain the technical and auditorium facilities to the highest standards, including regular inspections and maintenance of equipment
  • Oversee the management of external contracts and contractor visits for technical and building maintenance, services, and inspections
  • Work collaboratively with the Creative team, Head of Operations, and Customer Service department to ensure successful event execution
Requirements
  • Experience in technical liaison with visiting companies and community users
  • Safe rigging and use of electrics and sound equipment
  • Good IT skills (Word, Excel)
  • Excellent people management and staff deployment skills, able to motivate a team to succeed
  • Stage, rigging, sound, and/or electrics design
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
  • Programming ETC EOS family consoles
  • Qlab programming
  • Driving licence
  • Current electrical qualification
  • Knowledge of working with digital projection equipment
  • Ability to mix live sound/music in performance
