Pension Scheme Manager Job Description

At abrdn, we empower our clients to plan, save and invest for their futures. Our Reward function sits in HR and is responsible for the policy, design and innovation of our pay and benefits strategy across abrdn. We are seeking a skilled Pension Scheme Manager to work with reward and wider HR colleagues, as well as the pension scheme Trustees and their advisers, in the running of abrdn's pension scheme arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the abrdn UK and Ireland pension arrangements, ensuring compliance with auto enrolment employer obligations.
  • Oversee complex employee pension queries and complaints, providing SME support in TUPE, acquisition and merger projects.
  • Review audit and renewal data prepared by Pensions Consultant, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee annual benefits renewal and bonus sacrifice project, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and legal changes affecting pension plans, driving team forward in implementing necessary changes.
  • Attend quarterly Trustee meetings, providing abrdn HR updates and confirming actions required.
  • Chair the abrdn GFRP Forum, liaising with forum members quarterly regarding provider performance and changes required.
  • Oversee Global Pension Schemes, setting strategy and ensuring legislative changes are implemented.
  • Manage supplier contracts and perform provider reviews, ensuring best value for abrdn.
  • Lead and manage any employer nominated Trustee recruitment, ensuring a strong and diverse team.
Requirements:
  • Proven Pensions experience from financial or professional services, ideally with global exposure.
  • In-depth working knowledge of pensions regulations and legislation.
  • Strong understanding of pension trusteeship and governance.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
