About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at East London NHS Foundation Trust. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work alongside qualified Occupational Therapists to provide high-quality clinical services to patients with mental health difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend daily unit huddles and planning meetings with the OT team to discuss patient care and treatment plans.
  • Work alongside education staff to support young people in their therapeutic goals and activities.
  • Organize and lead therapeutic sessions and activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of administrative tasks, including note-taking and data entry.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community resources, including local authorities and third-sector organizations, to support patient discharge and engagement.
  • Support with discharge planning and coordination.
Person Specification
  • Fluent in both oral and written English.
  • Group work experience or training.
  • GCSE level or equivalent in English.
  • Experience working with young people or adults with mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of note-taking, making entries for therapeutic interventions, and facilitating therapeutic groups and individual interventions.
  • Ability to engage patients in their therapeutic goals and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Excellent time management skills, reliability, and punctuality.
