Widener University, a metropolitan doctoral-intensive institution, seeks an experienced Associate Professor of Counselor Education and Graduate Program Director for the Master of Counselor Education Program. The successful candidate will contribute to fostering an inclusive environment where faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds can thrive.

The ideal candidate should have a master's degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an accredited college or university. A doctoral degree is preferred. They should hold a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification and possess experience in higher education, particularly in student recruitment and retention. Teaching excellence and scholarship are essential qualifications for this Associate Professor non-tenure track position.

We offer a competitive salary of $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. This 10-month appointment includes opportunities for professional growth, scholarly work, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses on campus and online, managing scheduling and course delivery, and providing leadership in course development and implementation.
  • Serve as graduate program director, collaborating with admissions and enrollment regarding student recruitment and admission.
  • Maintain currency in the academic discipline through continuing study, professional development, and participation in activities.
  • Pursue service and leadership opportunities within the Program, Center, College, University, and profession.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an accredited college or university (preferred).
  • Hold a LPC certification.
  • Experience in higher education, including student recruitment and retention.
  • Teaching excellence and scholarship for faculty appointment at the Associate Professor non-tenure track rank.
