Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Music Department Lead to join our prestigious independent boys school in South West London. As Assistant Director of Music, you will play a key role in the running of the Music Department, assisting the Director of Music with planning and delivery of music lessons for year 3 – year 8 students.

The Role:
In this exciting opportunity, you will be responsible for ensuring the music curriculum supports all students, regardless of musical ability or experience. You will also encourage and nurture students' enjoyment of practical musicianship, with a focus on ensemble work. Your duties will include accompanying soloists and choirs at internal and external performances, playing for school services and productions, leading a large ensemble and one choir, and taking the weekly hymn practice. Additionally, you will assist in the organisation of concerts, workshops, and external educational experiences, and teach individual theory/aural lessons as required.

Person Specification:
To be successful in this role, you will require a degree in music and evidence of ongoing CPD (QTS desirable). You should have knowledge and understanding of the music curriculum for primary and secondary education, experience in choral and orchestral conducting to a high standard, excellent keyboard skills, and the ability to accompany instrumental soloists. A positive team player with strong organisational and time-management skills is essential, as is a commitment to the safety and welfare of all students and safeguarding policies.
