About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our team at Sunnyside House in Bangor. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of older adults, while working within the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

Job Summary:

  • Assist with the design, planning, and implementation of individual care plans for residents.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure high standards and quality service delivery.
  • Help residents with personal care needs, promoting independence and dignity.
  • Administer medications and adhere to policies related to medicine control.
  • Lead creative activities and recreation daily, ensuring records are maintained.

Responsibilities:

Care Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the Home Manager.
  • Evaluate care plans regularly, making adjustments as needed to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Provide assistance with personal care tasks, respecting residents' privacy and dignity.
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities that promote independence and well-being.
  • Accompany residents to appointments and outings, providing emotional support and companionship.
Leadership and Training
  • Supervise staff members, providing guidance and feedback to ensure excellent care delivery.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of resident information, adhering to confidentiality guidelines.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience caring for older adults, people with disabilities, or individuals with mental health needs.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 Award in Health and Social Care, with willingness to work towards Level 3.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to lead and motivate others.

Salary and Benefits:

£13.03 per hour, rising to £13.13 with NVQ/QCF Level 5 in Health and Social Care. Additional benefits include free uniform, training, and enhanced annual leave.
