About the Role:
The Chief Pipeline Engineer is a critical member of our team at McDermott International, Ltd, responsible for leading the development and implementation of pipeline engineering solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of pipeline engineering principles, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret Business Challenges: Analyze internal and external business challenges in the pipeline engineering discipline, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them.
- Develop Best Practices: Recommend and implement best practices in pipeline engineering, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Lead Functional Teams: Lead functional teams or projects as needed, providing technical direction and guidance to ensure successful project delivery.
- Coordinate with Disciplines: Maintain close coordination with other engineering disciplines, Planning, Fabrication, Marine, and Project Management Team to ensure seamless project execution.
- Document Communications: Document substantive communications and forward copies to Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager.
- Prepare Estimates: Prepare estimates for bid proposals, including technical query reviews, execution statements, and workhour estimates.
Requirements:
- Raise Technical Queries: Raise technical queries to obtain missing information and clarify work scope.
- Prepare Design Basis: Prepare, review, and approve Discipline engineering design basis, philosophies, and technical specifications.
- Participate in Deliverables: Participate in finalizing deliverables lists and ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Review Schedules: Review project and fabrication schedules regarding construction sequence and milestones.
- Attend Meetings: Attend project kickoff and review meetings as required.
- Provide Technical Direction: Provide technical direction and review of Designer's production products related to Pipeline Engineering.
- Assist in Design Inputs: Assist in providing necessary design inputs to other disciplines.
- Procure Equipment: Assist procurement personnel in procuring Discipline equipment and materials.
- Review Submittals: Review and approve vendor and subcontractor submittals for compliance.
- Guide Less Experienced Engineers: Guide less experienced engineers on procedures and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering.
- Fifteen-twenty years of experience in Oil and Gas with major contractor or consultant.
- Detailed knowledge of design techniques and analysis methods.
- Knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills.
- Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of Professional Engineering Society.
- Very good organizer, motivator, and supervisor.
- Able to solve problems without assistance.
- Keen on improving the effectiveness of the work.
- Fluent in the English language.
