Head of Data Services

Chief Nation is a full-service B2B marketing and events agency. We help our technology clients build new ideas, new business, new partners, and new senior executive relationships.

We are looking for a new Data Services Leader to join our team. This role combines hands-on data engineering/development with leadership of the company's data management and acquisition strategy.

The successful candidate will lead and mentor the data team and will be hands-on in the technical aspects of data management & optimisation, integrations, application management, business continuity, and security/compliance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the evolution of the capabilities of the Chief Nation Data Team, collaborating across the organisation with key stakeholders to define the roadmap.
  • Identify improvements to internal team workflows, specifically establishing metrics and reporting to manage outcomes and creating analytical tools to improve these workflows.
  • Be hands-on in creating, managing, optimising data pipelines and reporting environments.
  • Collaborate & communicate with all departments to understand systems generating data and how they are consuming data.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis on data to identify hidden (or sometimes not so hidden) patterns of incorrect categorisation.
  • Proactively and constantly optimise the cost of the data platform.
  • Actively participate in strategic data discussions across the organisation, seeking to mature data practises and evolve the use of data to offer new ways to deliver on our mission and improve operational efficiency.
  • Be a champion for data security and compliance, constantly seeking ways to improve our posture and reduce our risk.
  • Ensure our data environment and practices enable us to take advantage of advanced analytics and AI to improve our operational efficiency and secure event registrations.

Requirements:

  • Advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) & optimisation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Python language and programming.
  • Strong API integration experience.
  • Experience building and optimising data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
  • Experience defining and managing operational data flows including designing, building and maintaining robust integrations between various systems.
  • Experience in working with data custodians to define conceptual, logical models and translating these into relevant physical models that support business goals.
  • Strong analytical skills / ability to see data through an analyst / stakeholder lens.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
