Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and efficient individual to join our Clinical Genetics Administration Team as an Assistant Patient Pathway Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that genetic patient pathways are effectively managed, including booking and managing patient appointments in clinics at various hospital locations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor urgent referrals of patients and book appointments as necessary, coordinating patients' requests, clinical priority, and staff clinic calendars.
  • Liaise with patients and families to arrange appointments as directed by the clinical team.
  • Ensure all requested appointments are booked within agreed time frames, while tracking and notifying appropriate clinicians where patients have not attended.
  • Work with administration staff in other departments or hospitals to ensure clinic lists are correct and up to date, relaying any changes to clinic location, etc. to affected clinicians and colleagues.
  • Respond to patient telephone queries of an administrative nature and discuss with clinical team when appropriate.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of 18-week waiting times, targets, and will work proactively to ensure that all targets are maintained. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues at all levels, making a positive contribution to effective multidisciplinary team working.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • 2 years' experience in a patient-facing role, with experience of using Microsoft Office and other databases.
  • Excellent telephone skills and the ability to work in a highly pressurized environment.
