We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Operations Manager to support our team in the delivery of highway renewal and improvement schemes. Located in the Highways England's Area 7 & 9 SDF Contracts, this role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a dedicated professional.



About the Role

As a Highway Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing site operations, ensuring the successful delivery of highway schemes. This will involve implementing safety and quality practices, maintaining construction programmes, and conducting regular safety inspections.



Key Responsibilities


  • Manage and oversee site operations, fulfilling the Principal Contractor role under CDM on Provider Works and acting as Supervisor on Managed Works.
  • Implement safety and quality practices through Kier 5 SHE Basics, ensuring safety and compliance for all site activities.
  • Maintain construction programmes, verifying TM designs are correctly installed and demobilized.
  • Conduct regular Safety, Health, and Environmental inspections, promoting a safe work environment.
  • Ensure effective contractor performance, providing clear instruction on safety, execution, and progress reporting.
  • Support the planning and coordination of traffic management, including roadspace bookings and stakeholder liaison.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:




  • SSSTS (CITB Site Supervisor's Safety Training Scheme) & CSCS (Supervisory) Card.
  • Experience delivering Principal Contractor obligations under CDM 2015 and Supervisory role under NEC.
  • Proven success in highway schemes involving restricted site availability (e.g., night work).
  • Experience with structures, high-speed roads, and technology schemes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and commitment to high standards.
  • Positive attitude toward collaborative and partnering-based project delivery.
