The Role

Newcastle College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the position of Lecturer in Electrical Installations or Electrotechnical. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and assessing high-quality learning programmes across various levels of further education and apprenticeship provision.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Electrical and the Built Environment, with a proven track record of professional/vocational expertise in the Built Environment with an Electrical installation, Domestic, Commercial, or Electrotechnical bias.

The candidate must be suitably qualified to the industry-and recognised standard in relevant built environment electrical qualifications at L3 minimum, AM2, and electrical inspection are also required for this role. Additionally, the candidate should hold a post-16 teaching qualification and English and maths qualifications at level 2, or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.

The successful candidate will also have experience of effective programme leadership in FE, HE, and/or Apprenticeships, with a proven track record of successful teaching and assessment practice. Strong oral and written communication skills, good IT skills, and the ability to self-manage workload and meet deadlines are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and assess high-quality learning programmes in Electrical Installations or Electrotechnical
  • Undertake programme leadership, tutorial, and programme administration duties
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of curriculum and assessment strategies
