Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Ambulance Vehicle Preparation Operative. As a key member of our operational support function, you will play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and supporting our operations in meeting their targets.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for processing Ambulance Service Vehicles in a prescribed and controlled manner, ensuring each vehicle is fully equipped and prepared to attend and treat patients. This will involve detailed cleaning and Infection Prevention and Control activities, checking and inspecting medical and lifting & handling equipment, restocking consumables, and completing vehicle checks.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to prepare consumables, manage stock control, re-fuel vehicles, and move them across various locations. They will also be responsible for recording daily activities and repatriating equipment from Hospital Trusts.

Requirements

The successful candidate will need to have a driving license with full Category C1 entitlement, valid in the UK. They will also need to be able to work individually or as part of a team, and be able to work unsocial hours on a 7-day/24-hour shift rota system.

Previous experience of implementing effective Infection Prevention and Control measures is desirable, as is awareness of Workplace Health and Safety, COSHH, and Risk Assessments. The successful candidate will also need to have good literacy and numerical skills, and be able to complete tasks and achieve results.

They will also need to be an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, and have basic IT skills, including hand-held data devices. A short time-framed video of the basic AVP process is available online for further information.
